IAN McCARTNEY
Our local MP Mr Ian McCartney has been hearing lots of encouraging things about our school and so will be paying us a visit on 4/10/07
?BIG WRITING? EXPLAINED
Wednesday 10th October 6pm ? 7pm. Mrs Jackson will be giving a brief talk on ?Big Writing? and raising standards in Literacy plus some top tips to help your child succeed with writing. Refreshment will be available. All welcome.
TESCO VOUCHERS
Once again we are collecting Tesco school sport vouchers. Many thank to everyone who sent in their Sainsbury vouchers, we should soon be getting our new goal posts, badminton equipment and food technology equipment.
WATER BOTTLES
Although the weather is cold it is still important that the children bring their water bottles into school. Drinking water helps to hydrate the brain and improves concentration especially in the afternoon. Please can the children bring in only plain water and not flavoured water of any kind and bottles should have a ?sportstop? to prevent spillage.
Appointments to see the vicar regarding the
DEANERY APPLICATIONS
The vicar will be in school at the following times to complete the application forms required by the Deanery High School. Please book your appointment via Mrs Bibby.
Monday 7pm to 8pm
Wednesday 4pm to 5pm Friday 4pm to 5pm
PE KIT
Parents please can you ensure that your child has a named PE kit in school on their PE days. We are a Healthy School and all children in school participate in PE for two hours every week. If your child does not have a PE Kit in school they are unable to access this vital part of the National Curriculum
BOOK FAIR
From Monday 1st October we will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. The books will be available to buy on Monday and Wednesday evenings after school 3.15 ? 4.00 plus Wednesday morning 9.45 ? 10.00. All money raised will go towards new books for our School Library.
OUTDOOR COATS
Please could everyone check their outdoor coats to ensure you have got the correct one! Unfortunately one of the children in school has lost their coat and it is possible that someone is inadvertently wearing it.
BUILDING FUND
As a school we try to support the Church, and it has been a tradition that on a Wednesday the children bring to school a voluntary donation which we collect during our worship time and pass onto the Church which they then use towards the upkeep of the Church Hall. During September the donations have been as follows:
W/c 5/9/07 £7.50 W/c 12/9/07 £7.63 W/c 26/9/07 £8.45
Any donation no matter how small is gratefully received.
NETBALL
Lauren, our Netball coach has 4 spare places in our morning Netball club. Wednesday 8.00am ? 8.45am. There is no cost. If anyone in Year 5 is interested please contact the office for a permission slip.
KEYBOARD LESSONS
Lessons with Mrs J. Walch are now full but we are operating a waiting list. If you are receiving lessons, the cost is £3.50 per week and this should be paid every Monday to the School Office.
