WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK
Walk to School Week finished today Friday 20th October. A big thankyou to everyone who participated this week. Wristbands will follow soon.
SPONSORED FOOTBALL
Many thanks to Mr Holland who organised the Football Skills Sponsorship day. Most of our pupils have been sponsored and could I ask that the sponsorship money is brought into school as soon as possible. The children all enjoyed their time with Matthew, the football coach. All money raised will go towards improving facilities in school for our pupils.
BUMBLEBEES
Bumblebees will be starting a dance class next term. There are still places left - for enquiries please call Emma & Rachel on 07765328223
PYJAMA PARTY
On the 31st October we will be holding a Pyjama party in school as a Christian alternative to Halloween and 'trick or treating'. I hope as many children as possible will choose to attend and many thanks to Louise Cooke and Tina Evans and their team of volunteers for organising this event. Don't forget to ask Louise or Tina for your ticket.
FOSPPS
The next meeting for FOSPPS will be on Thursday 2 November 2006 from 7pm to 8pm. Please put this date in your diaries and I hope as many parents as possible can attend so that we can organise some interesting and exciting fundraising events. This year I hope that the focus for our fundraising will be:
1. To improve the playground facilities for the children.
2. To provide a dedicated softplay area for Reception.
3. To classify and re-stock the school library.
SCHOOL NEWSPAPER
Megan & Jenny along with their team of reporters have finished their newspaper project. This is now on sale.
ECO - School Update
We are currently working towards silver status and one of our next
projects includes creating a quiet area with a possible vegetable garden. If any parents would like to be involved with this project please contact school. Also keep up the good work with our current recycling project
SCHOOL SAFETY
Could we remind parents that they should not enter the school car park unless on school business and to make sure that they do not block the entrance to the Freemasons. Parents are also reminded that they may only enter school through the front entrance so that we know who is on the premises and not through the rear entrance.
BRADFORD AND BINGLEY ACCOUNTS
This week Bradford & Bingley gave a very interesting presentation to the children on saving for the future. Each child in school received a 'goody bag' containing account forms and a colouring competition. First prize in the colouring competition will win £250 for their school - so good luck!! For each child's account opened, Bradford & Bingley will donate £1 to the World Wildlife Fund. All colouring competitions and account forms to be returned to the Bradford & Bingley in Wigan please. If there was sufficient interest Bradford & Bingley have offered to come into school on a regular basis to collect the children?s money, and update their pass books thus offering us an 'in school' banking service. This would allow the children to form good habits for the future regarding saving and budgeting - More information on this to follow.
PARENT GOVERNERS
May I remind all parents that your parent governors are
Louise Cooke
Allan Topham
Sue Elstone
If there are any issues that you would like to bring to the attention of the Governing Body please to not hesitate to mention them to Louse, Allan or Sue who can often be seen on the school playground dropping off or picking up their children.
I hope everyone has a safe and restful half-term break.
Regards Alison Jackson
